The Company

Centrally located in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Interaction Research Institute, Inc. is an established research, training, and development organization.   Incorporated in 1975, IRI has provided services in survey guided improvement, strategic planning, performance measures, analytical consulting, information systems design, organizational development, and cross-cultural intervention.  Our implementation strategy is simple, flexible, and multi-dimensional; designed to meet all modern organizational challenges.  IRI's products and services represent over 30 years of professional expertise providing services to the government.

SIN 874-1 :  Consulting Services

IRI's Consulting Services can be used as a catalyst to initiate new projects or accelerate ongoing efforts requiring technical expertise.  Begin with our Organizational Review to establish your requirements, priorities, and goals.   Specialties include:

SIN 874-2 :  Facilitation Services

IRI's Facilitation Services focus on achieving desired results. Objectives for each team session are clearly established in advance or at the onset of a meeting.  IRI's method is dramatically opposed to a rigid protocol that incorporates popular techniques as pre-scheduled events.   Tools are utilized when appropriate to reach the achievement of established objectives.

SIN 874-3:  Survey Services

IRI's Survey Services range from full-scale design, analysis and reporting to refinement and/or analysis of existing surveys. Surveys can be administered via paper document, OCR scanned form, or Section 508 compliant web-based instrument hosted on IRI's or the client's server.  For ongoing surveys, IRI offers dynamic web-based survey reporting systems that display real time charts and tables of survey results.  For annual or biennial surveys, IRI produces comprehensive reports of survey findings and recommendations.

SIN 874-4:  Training Services

IRI offers standard and customized courses and workshops.  The customized courses include on-site data collection to develop client examples and exercises, and workshops to apply the knowledge gained to specific programs, projects, or initiatives within the client organization.

Cross-Cultural Adaptation.  IRI’s unique approach to cross-cultural adaptation focuses on three levels of understanding: self-awareness, the nature of mankind, and inter-cultural similarities and differences.  Participants learn what they bring to a situation in terms of their own needs and strivings, and why they may interpret any situation from a personal frame of reference. The wisdom gained from this approach allows participants to become culture-wise, to communicate with others with tolerance, and to develop a true sense of cultural relativism.  Candidates not only become aware of potential conflicts, but they also develop adaptive mechanisms prior to contact.  This approach allows individuals from any cultural background to respond effectively during social exchange or critical transactions.

Customer Service Excellence.  The purpose of this workshop is to prepare personnel to serve internal and external customers in a manner that demonstrates the highest level of professionalism. At the completion of this workshop, participants will possess the knowledge and skills to define and attain success from the viewpoint of the customer, anticipate and circumvent problems, deal effectively with challenging situations and resolve customer concerns, and enhance the quality of their lives.  The method of training is designed to evoke full participation through hands-on, activity-based content for individual and group involvement.

Survey Design.  This workshop provides the skills needed to create a valid and reliable survey instrument.  The course reviews item construction; response scales; sampling and administration methods; validity and reliability testing; and analyses, reporting, and interpretation of survey findings.  Examples of organizational climate and customer satisfaction surveys are used to demonstrate common pitfalls.  The customized workshop includes sessions to enhance surveys developed by the client organization.

Deriving Useful Performance Measures.  Based on IRI's courses presented at IBM's Corporate Technical Institutes, George Washington University, and numerous public and private sector organizations throughout the world, this workshop  provides the knowledge and skills to derive realistic objectives and develop useful measures of effectiveness. Class discussions explore and assess the viability of potential performance measures.  Participants engage in group workshop exercises to apply the concepts and tools learned to derive performance measures for their organization.
